Ta Bai Passing On
In some sad news Ta Bai died at home in his hut last week. He had been home for about a week after returning from treatment at the hospital for his neck wound. During the last part of his life O had managed to provide him with a weather proof hut and a monthly income for food and other provisions. He had always been very grateful for the help he had received and will be missed. The hut will now pass on to his neighbour Ba Pantri and her three small children mentioned in an earlier strory.

In the fields
We have recently visited Somboon, an intellectually handi-capped girl of 31 living in a remote part of Kanchanaburi province. She lives with her sick mother and uncle in a simple house in the fields at the end of a muddy track. They have no running water or electricity and their drinking water is of poor quality taken from a rain water tank during the wet season. They have a very low income based on doing paid daily labour whenever its available. They also have about an acre of land from which they gain a small rice harvest each year.
A local Thai ngo working for citizens’ rights has established contact with this family and recently managed to gain formal citizenship status for Somboon which will entitle her to free medical care. On behalf of O the citizens’ rights group will present them with a thousand baht per month to help meet their daily food and living expenses.

New Term
Hello everyone,
Thank you for your support and donations during the term break. As a result we will be able to continue with this current programme for at least another term.

school's out
Hi again everyone. Thank you for your support for our projects during the past school term. It has been a good experience for us, meeting people from the community and learning of their daily lives and needs. They have been very grateful for the assistance that we have been able to provide them with and we have had lots of positive feedback. This work has been very much appreciated on all sides of the community.
As it is now the end of the school year there will be a break for two months during which we will not be assisting the children with daily school needs. We will continue to support the old people who have little or no income with our remaining funds during the break.
The new school year starts again in May. This is a time of particular difficulty when school fees, uniforms and books etc. need to be paid for. It is often at these crucial times that parents or caregivers pull their children out of school. We are hoping to continue with our current programme during the next school year and expand if resources permit. Once again thanks everyone for your support.

About O
(Above are two of the children currently being assisted by O)
Thailand, compared to many other countries, is very prosperous. There shouldn’t be much poverty and sending children to school shouldn’t be a big problem. But the gap between rich and poor is huge and many people struggle in the daily battle to survive.
What We Do
We identify families or individuals living in tough circumstances and provide them with financial or other support as required.
We focus particularly on the needs of children attending school, with the view of assisting them with their long term education.
These are pictures of Nok (above) and Dao

We depend entirely on donations
The donations we receive are spent directly on the people requiring assistance.
There is a small amount of overheads resulting from stipends for our part-time staff member when involved in ongoing programmes.
