Hallo everyone, It has been a very good end of term for the children ODET has been supporting. All have passed their end of term tests and are doing well at school. The two new students, Pat and Mee, that ODET had started assisting have now moved away due to their changed family circumstances and no longer require assistance.
A new development is that in the past 2 weeks we have been discussing the possibility of merging with a locally established Thai community service organization, The Consumer Protection Organization. They are associated with a larger group called the Media Reform Association (MRA). This group is established as a centre for the community from all walks of life to voice their concerns on a wide range of public issues. The MRA then takes steps according to its resources to deal with the issues raised. If it goes ahead ODET would become part of a formally registered NGO and be able to issue receipts for all donations. The donations would still be used for the same purpose as they are currently being used and would be sent to the account number of the new organization. This blog will then come to an end and be replaced by a website with Thai and English translation.
