A warm
welcome to you from a very warm Summer in Thailand. The school year has just
come to an end and so far so good for the students supported by Odet. School
reports are still coming in but the outlook is quite good.
April is
normally to month for the ‘Songran’ festival ushering in the new year with
chaotic scenes of water splashing. Sadly all that has
changed with covid which is now hitting Thailand badly with over 1500 new cases
every day.
Thank you
for your great support. Your contribution is making a big difference to the
lives of nine students and their caregivers in the Kanchanaburi and Nakorn Pathom area.
Chanaporn has received her higher than average grades following the final exams and can take a well earned break.
Sii has chosen to ordain as a novice monk at a nearby temple for the Summer break.
Sprint's major love in life is football and will usually be found kicking a ball around in the field each evening.
Thai education inequality grows, more students need financial aid
Thousands more students are seeking financial help this year,
growing the education gap between the rich and the poor. Some families cannot
afford to send their children to school due to financial stress brought on by
the coronavirus pandemic.
It can be confirmed that Covid-19 has worsened the economic
situation and educational gap. More children are slipping through the system
due to high tuition fees.
